Municipalities

The Regional District of Mount Waddington (RDMW) includes municipalities within it’s boundaries. Each of these municipalities regulate matters pertaining to planning, development, and building within their respective jurisdictional boundaries. District of Port Hardy

Port Hardy is located at the Northern tip of Vancouver Island and is the gateway to an authentic, unspoiled, nature-driven adventure. It’s known for its proximity to wilderness areas which make it a popular base for outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and wildlife viewing.  The Town also serves as a transportation hub with ferry access to Prince Rupert & Bella Coola and hosts an Airport with connecting flights to the BC Main Land & Central Coast.

Town of Port McNeill

Port McNeill is located on the Northern tip of Vancouver Island and is known as the “gateway to the Broughton Archipelago”. It’s known as a hub for exploring the scenic waterways and islands to the north, offering activities like whale watching, wildlife viewing, and kayaking. The Town also hosts ferry connections to various Island communities throughout the Broughton Archipelago and BC Central Coast.

Village of Alert Bay

Port Alice is located off the northeastern coast of Vancouver Island on Cormorant Island. It’s a place where culture, beauty, and community spirit come together in a truly unique way. The Village is accessible via BC Ferries and 3rd party transportation services.

Village of Port Alice

Port Alice is perched on Neroutsos Inlet and offers stunning views of the water & surrounding mountains. It’s known as the “Gateway to the Wild West Coast” due to the unique geography and access to wild destinations like Brooks Peninsula, Side Bay, and Kyuquot (places that are typically inaccessible without a boat or logging road). The Village is typically accessed by paved road Highway 30 (Intersecting Highway 19).
